Edit aspect ratios on HD200

Hi

On my new HD200 I used to be able to edit the aspect ratios by selecting Options and Edit Aspect ratio while watching a program. I could adjust it on the fly and the screen would change. Now I can't do that anymore. For example, if I go to Fill and try to adjust the width and height, the screen doesn't change at all. I am running the 1230 firmware. Anyone else seen this?

Aspect ratio and other settings won't save

Actually, now that I look at it, no settings are saving on the extender. I have removed some plugins and deleted them from the SageMC main menu, but after rebooting the HD200 those items are back. It doesn't appear that any of my changes I make are saving between restarts.

EDIT: I am running SageMC, so maybe it has to do with that. On my PC client, changing any of my settings won't save. I changed the screen saver back to Logo from photo slide show, and after stopping and restarting the screen saver is still photos, even though the setting is Logo. Also, making changes to the dynamic menus such as taking off old items doesn't save between restarts.

I am seeing the same thing. I too am running SageMC. Have not tried editting the aspect ratio with the standard STV yet.

I haven't tried the default STV for aspect ratio, but I did change to the default STV to make changes to screen savers and such, but they did not stick. Kind of strange.

If you return to the default STV and edit your aspect ratios there, they will be available to you when you switch back to SageMC.

Aloha,
Mike

Aloha,
Mike
I loaded the default STV and added some custom ratios, and went back into SageMC and the new ones were there. Even in the default STV on the extender, when I try to make any changes such as expanding horizontally, the picture on the screen doesn't move. This is true for the default STV and SageMC. Before my extender when I had a PC driving the TV, I could edit the AR and do things like increase the percentage horizontally or vertically and see it move on the screen. I really just need a way to fill the screen so the black bars don't burn into the plasma. I'm not an expert by any means on AR settings and such.

The other issue is I changed the screen saver from photo slide show to logo, but photos keep showing up.

One other problem which I believe might be SageMC related is when I remove things from the dynamic menu, they are gone until I shutdown and restart Sage or the extender. The menu items I deleted come back after a restart.

thanks a lot!

You need to save your changes in the menu system before you quit Sage. Go into the Dynamic menus and on the left choose File and on the right choose the save as option.

Plus I need to proof read before I post. I edited my post so it didn't sound so silly. But you got the idea.

Ok I must be a complete idiot. I can not figure out how to create custom aspect ratios. I have read the sagetv manual and it eludes to being able to adjust the aspect ratio (not just select fill, or source or something) while the video is playing. I just can't figure out how to do this. the manual is no help.

Then there is the talk of custom aspect ratios. When I go into the detailed setup, I can adjust the scale and offset, but I don't see how I can save it as a custom setup.

I would like to adjust the standard display from my hd1000 extender because my tv has huge overscan. I would also like to create an aspect ratio that will scale up letter boxed 4x3 programs so that the 16x9 content will take up the entire screen on my 16x9 tv.

any pointers on where to read up on this or where to find it in the menus would be appreciated.

I hadn't asked before because I figured I would get the standard RTFM. But I have RTFM'd and I can't figure it out.

Thanks
Greg
