Multiple Tuners; Different Models?
Hello All,
If I want to set up a system with multiple tuners, should they all be the same make/model or should the be different? Steve |

I have two versions of the Hauppauge PVR-250 in my system. While it took a clean install with the latest drivers (see SHS's postings for directions), it now works great. Of course the downside is that I can't use the Hauppauge Win2000 App to configure them individually.
SageTV seems to insist upon using the same PVR-250 settings for each card. Despite their being H/W differences on the 2 cards, this doesn't appear to be too bad. I am running the same signal into each - I just use 2 so that I can record overlapping shows. But if I had 2 different antenna sources, it may be desireable to control their quality settings independently... I've asked for this Feature Enhancement earlier. Hope it gets there some day. But for me - driving both cards with the same signal and the 2 cards being "close" to the same - I've had no problems... |

Ed, what is it you're looking to do? There may already be a solution using the undocumented 'merit' feature of multiple tuners.

When I go to Advanced Setup, under Multimedia, I can select either of the two PVR-250 Tuner/Capture Cards. Then, when I click the Advanced Settings, I can select the Tab for the Color Adjustments. My favorite setting to adjust is Saturation which I find needs to be toned down a bit to get the cleanest (i.e. most noise-free) picture/capture.
What I would expect is that the Color Settings I select apply to the PVR-250 which I happen to have selected. But when I go back and select the other PVR-250 and get into the Color Settings for that card, I see that the values are the same as I adjusted them to on the first PVR-250. Well, at least they stick. I'm fortunate that, although the two PVR-250s differ in the particular Tuner Chip version, that the Color Settings seem to be 'bout right for both... I've also requested in the past that you somehow find a way to display the picture while I'm adjusting it. It is impossible for me to see the effects of my adjustments in any meaningful (i.e. informative/responsive) way. My old solution of finding the right settings using the Win2000 App won't work as that App does not support 2 PVR-250s in the system :-( Does this make sense? |

Should it be possible to use both a Creative DVCR and a WinTV PVR-250?

I see what you mean Ed, it'll be awhile before that's in there.
Steve, yes that should work. My workstation has both of those in there (and more).
