Possible to remove aspect ratio options?
So I only ever use 2 different AR. Source and a Custom One for taking letterboxed 4:3 content that ends up being "window boxed" on my 16:9 display and zooming it vertically to fill the screen.
Now for me having the extra options is not that big a deal, however my wife really gets confused by all the options and if she can just toggle between 2 that would be much better. Too date I have never used anything but this 2 options. |

I was wondering this myself. I really only ever need 'Source' and the custom 'Letterbox' that I added. I'd like to get rid of Fill, ZoomA and ZoomB.

m1abrams and KJake, I wonder if both your custom letterbox AR's are the same?
I'd love to see them and see if it works for me too. So far, 98% of everything I watch works with Source. I never use the other modes too, but I can see a need for a vertical fill Letterbox. |

I use the Letterbox mode found at the bottom of this Extender FAQ entry: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...712#post252712
Useful for when a 16:9 show is broadcast in a 4:3 letterbox. This mode zooms in just right to present the show in 16:9 again by getting rid of all the black. |

Agreed... as other have stated, I only need source and zoom for 16:9 inside 4:3 (i cant remember which I use for this), I just toggle through until it is right...

Great feature idea

I would like to remove some of the "defaults"...or at least be able to hide them from the cycle when the Aspect button is pressed. I only need Source and the "Custom" that I created. |

It's close to two years later -- in v7, is there any way to remove unused ratios yet?
I have two HD300's on 16:9 sets, and one on a 4:3 set. On all sets, I watch a mix of sources: 4:3, 16:9, 1.85:1, 2.39:1 etc.. as well as 16:9 shows broadcast on TV in 4:3 format. I used "source" almost all of the time. This means on my widescreen sets, I get black bars on the sides while watching 4:3 content, which is perfectly fine. The *only* time I ever change aspect ratios is to go to "ZoomC" on the 16:9 sets while watching the 16:9 content broadcast in 4:3. For this stuff, in "source" mode, you get a thick black border all the way around the whole picture, so the actual show is about 1/2 the size centered in the screen. |

It would be cool i think for a plugin that allows to do this. +1

An alternative would be to use the [Shameless Plug]"Automatic Aspect Ratio Mode Switcher" plugin[/Shameless Plug], setup each show, channel or source once and don't worry about it again after that.
