Startup screen garbled

After the splash screen I get a main menu that properly displays a background, but any menu items are not visible. When I roll over the screen I get some wierd pixelation on the background, but nothing else. Any ideas?

My system:
P4 2ghz
Radeon 7500
1gig RAM
ATI E-Home Wonder

It all works in 1.4.

Thanks,
Steve

A little more info...

If I maximize the screen and roll over where the menu items should be, I get some intelligible letters from each menu item. I've managed to click on a few items and get to the guide, which looks fine. Other than that, it's pretty much gibberish.

My Radeon is connected to a DLP TV through DVI. A second monitor is hooked up but is only a clone of my DLP desktop. I can't imagine this would be the problem.

This sat for a while, so I'll take a couple _guesses_ ...

Do you have 3D acceleration enabled in Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Advanced? If so, try disabling it.

Do you have the latest version of java installed?

I had something similar happen to my laptop - Sage client after upgrading from 1.4 to 2.0 beta. I updated my mobility-Radeon display driver and that fixed it.

Glad to hear it now works...

I can't resist saying that it didn't even dawn on me until _after_ I posted my comment that if you couldn't see the menus, you wouldn't be able to get to the setup screen as I was suggesting! Oops!

(Yes, I know there is another way to change that setting if it had been needed... I just found my suggestion funny after reading it again.)
