Pausing a live show into another...

I was bit frustrated tonight with SageTV. I had to go out as the 4th Quarter of the Alamo Bowl began. Rather than record since I knew the game would probably run over the scheduled time, I hit Pause. Following the Bowl game was Sport Center and then NFL PrimeTime. When I got home and unpaused it, I was able to watch the game up until the end of the scheduled time (ComSkip even flagged the commercials). When it was "over" at its scheduled time, the recording just stopped rather than continue into Sports Center. When I looked in my recorded shows, it showed that it was still recording. When I looked to see what it was recording, it showed NFL Primetime. What happened to Sport Center that was between the two? The remainder of the game, which went into Over Time should have been recorded in the Sports Center slot.

Does Sage have a live tv buffer like TiVo does? If you watch live, I assumed it just recorded until the slot in the EPG ended.

I believe you have delete live recordings (forgot what the option is really called). If so, then it deleted the portion since time has came and left. Since you were using (PAUSED) the game during live tv, it was in use and not deleted.

The tuner/program was still on live tv, so it was recording the current time show.

So, I guess was working as intended. Would be cool if they had a delay before deleting live tv buffers.

I tried looking for the setting and couldn't find it. Maybe someone can chime in. I thought it was in the default stv but maybe only in the sagemce addon.

Not sure about the live tv setting, but just thought I'd throw in a shameless plug for my SRE plugin. With this plugin installed, the game would have recorded in its entirety until OT ended.

Send a message via ICQ to Fastrack
The setting your looking for is:
Setup -> Customize -> Delete LiveTV files when not using Intelligent Recording

Currently it kept the NFL game as you paused it... all the others were just nuked. At least I'm assuming that's what occurred, as I've had the above set to "No" forever now

You could of pressed "Record" and chose the following programs after it in the guide to record to make sure you got it all. Or just recorded it and added a 1 hour padding. Or as Slugger said-take a look at his plugin. It's the coolest for recording all of the sports-even overtime.
