Creative and 1.2.8 Sync Problems
Hello,
I am a new user of SageTV. I downloaded the trial version (1.2.8) and have problems with audio/video sync and choppy video using my Creative Digital VCR. I also tried the software with a WinTV PVR-250 and have no video or audio problems. Anybody else having problems with the Creative card and SageTV 1.2.8? Steve |

Others have reported that using different video and audio filters will fix the sync problems and choppy video with the Creative card. I use Raviscent filters with my PVR-350 card and have no sync issues and my video is pristene. The Raviscent filters come from the ATI dvd player. I've also had good results with the WinDVD 4.0 Intervideo filters.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried 3 different sets of filter; from PowerDVD XP, Sonic Cineplayer 1.5, and Elecard. They all show some form of stuttering/sync problems.
I picked up a WinTV PVR-250 yesterday and it works much better with SageTV. Maybe over time the Creative product will work more reliably with SageTV, for now I will stick with the PVR-250. Steve |

I think someone mentioned that the reason for the sync problem was that the Creative card only does MPEG video encoding, and/or it doesn't mux directly in hardware. Someone else mentioned that if you set SageTV to Realtime priority that they get better results.
After a while, I preferred to just get a card that has good driver support and has hardware muxing (like the Hauppauge cards - mine is a PVR-250) It's worth the extra $50 or so for the Hauppauge cards. Lauren |

Yeah, I have stopped using the Creative card and have installed to WinTV PVR 250 cards. The WinTV cards just seem to work.

For 1.3 I've completely redone the audio/video sync management for the Creative card. In my testing it now maintains perfect sync all of the time no matter what, it doesn't even drift at all on channel changes, and this is regardless of CPU usage. There's hope for the Creative users still.
1.3 Beta should be released within the next day or two.

Yes i have been testing this fix for the creative card so far all channels are in sync but i have yet to test it on my worst probelm channel 73 scifi which is playing payed programming right now. Funny how that always seems to stay in sync on all channels but the other programming hasn't before.
Anyway as of right now all other channels are in perfect sync for my shows so im very happy at that.

JJarmoc, you'd be surprised how much I sleep. It's actually quite a bit.
