Comcast Seattle gets into the spirit of holidays

They just added 29 new HD channels and dumped a whole bunch of good analog channels into clearQAM.

If they ever do this in Washington (DC), I'm screwed. I *never* watch a recorded show for at least a week or two - so if they change something on Dec 1, I'm sure I'd never notice it until the 15th at the earliest.

I have not checked the HD channels.

I think I'll be spending some quality time with my HDHR tonight!

Will sage automatically pick the HD channels up and add to the guide or will they need to be added manually?

Looks like the new HD stuff is only in a few test neighborhoods, but the clearQAM stuff is everywhere.

I'm officially a fan if this is how they plan on doing it after the digital switch. I'd love to be able to get rid of all my internal tuners and just use 2xHDHR's + firewire.

If you haven't messed with your properties file, I think they should appear automatically. I believe there is a setting somewhere to disable automatically adding new channels when they appear on zap2it. I was getting channels added that I did not subscribe to. I seem to remember setting it to not add them at one point because sage was attempting to record programing on a channel that just said, call for subscription information.

Otherwise they may show up automatically. Of course zap2it may lag behind and not add those channels to your line up for a while, you can always add them manually if you don't want to wait.

If I'm not mistaken (and I've been known to be on occassion) Sage has to rescan the files generated by the HDHR setup gui to see the new channels. Once done, then you can remap as necessary to match you guide data.

This is what I did last night to pick up the new QAM channels:
1. Closed Sage and re-ran the HDHR setup gui and scanned for new channels unchecking the ones I did'nt want to see.
2. Opened Sage and opened the source details on my HDHR-0 tuner.
3. Rescanned for channels. It picked up new ones I'd checked.
4. Remapped to logical channel numbers the channels that didn't match the guide data.
5. Disabled the corresponding channels on my analog card.

Of course, YMMV.
