Where is the Convert Menu?

I decided to give SageMC another try today to play with Fan Art. I had to reorganize my video collection because of how it browses the file system, but other than that, it does seem to manage the video much better than the default stv (I really like the unwatched filter).

But, I can't seem to find a "convert" menu that would allow me to convert a video to another format. Am I blind? Does SageMC not have this option?

Its under the "Send To..." button

The only option I have in my "Send To..." menu is "Playlist".... Does SageMC have a "Convert" menu, or do I need to isntall another plugin to get that functionality?

Its in there, but I think you also need to enable it in SageMC options, I'd check there also.

I think I'm going to have to get my kids to figure this out.... they seem figure out everything else

It threw me also. I don't know how I stumbled into it either, but they are right, when you are viewing the show, where it is listing the description on the right, etc.... you will see a Send To.... button, then you select Compress there.

OK, I Found that when I view my recorded TV shows, there is a "Compress" in the "Send To" menu. BUT, when I am in my video library (movies), my "Send To" menu does not have a "Compress" option.

Is this normal? I've reinstalled SageMC twice. I'm current at 6.3.8a.

Are you trying to compress a video file (mpg etc) or are you trying to compress a ripped movie (vobs etc)? SageTV's default transcoder doesn't handle ripped dvds - only video files.

These are .avi files that I have in my collection. These are not DVD files. From time to time, I convert my movies into something that is playable on an ipod for my kids. In the default STV, if I go into the options for a movie, then I get a "convert" button which then allows me to convert the video to some other format.

In SageMC, I have a "compress" when I look at recorded shows, but not when I am browsing non dvd movies. I'm just trying to figure out if this is unique to me, or if this a SageMC design feature. I like SageMC, but having to switch back to the default STV just a convert a non dvd movie is tiresome

Weird. It should be there for an avi file. Let me check one of my avi's to see if I have the menu item. I'll report back.

Well I don't see where anyone reported back. I'm wondering the same thing. I convert all of my avi's to mp4 and I have a script that runs to update the itunes so I can have 1 copy of my movie for both sage and my ipod. I've used this feature a lot and would like to get it back.

I've never gotten the convert menu to show up in SageMC....
