6.5.3 Favites can't handle duplicate names from separate lineups

5. Favorites channel limit dialog: changed channel selections to use checkboxes rather than radio buttons.
They're back again! But there's still a problem.

I'v two EPG lineups:
- tvtv (logical channels: 400-499; two anlogue tuners)
- DVB-C (logical channel: 1-399; one digital tuner)

Channels with the same name in the lineup show up only once in the checkbox list (first instance), but favorites are scheduled on both lineups.

Is this as designed? Is there a work around? One can't rename the channels in one the lineups (as I do inside xmltv lineups on the older SageTV server).

Yes, that's as designed -- the channel limit is done by channel name.

Channels that have the same name on different lineups are usualy merged in the guide anyway. I believe this is done by the station ID for the channel, so they could end up being listed separately if using EPG sources that use different IDs for the same channel on different lineups.

That's what I thought, because 6.4.8 did the same. The EPG itself looks ok, because they've different station ID's and I gave them different logical numbers.

It's the Favorites function that doesn't look at station ID's (by design) and decides to record both shows, although the title of the show and the begin and end times are exactly the same.

It would be very nice, since we've checkboxes again in Favorites, to take the logical number (that's the one that can be changed) or the station IDs into consideration and list and treat 'duplicate' stations differently. I don't need two recordings of the same show . But since one can now tick more checkboxes it can be done if someone wants to!

The Favorites function with it's conflict resolving has always been a strong point of SageTV for me. Although it always has been plagued by the encoder_merit option that works in one release and doesn't in another.

I think most people have a mixed configuration of tuners and it would help if we could influence the Favorites a bit more clearly.
