Remote control of DVR cable box

I have everything working using mouse or keyboard for changing channels etc for SageTV with HD PVR. I have a SA Explorer 8300HD which has in demand and two channel recording. I haven't been able to figure out how to use the mouse or keyboard to pull up the menu and navigation features of the 8300HD.

The cable box is in the closet and I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for range and projector on wall for PC or SageTV usage.

To do anything with the cable box means finding the remote and standing in another room to adjust.

I am using the IR output of the HD PVR. So I need someway to map a keyboard or on screen command to a specific IR command.
