HD200 Database FULL?

I unboxed my HD200, yesterday, ungraded to the newest Beta, installed the hardware, and then upgraded the firmware. All seems fine in server mode...still testing the STV imports as well.

When I set up the unit in stand alone mode, and then added my music folders I eventually got a pop-up saying all the memory in the unit is full and that it can not hold anymore music. Only 45% of my collection is loaded.

I didn't not realize there is a limit? This is a bit frustrating...

Has anyone else seen this? Also, perhaps there is a way to reduce the impact to the stand alone "database' my reducing image sizes, or changing some properties somewhere?

Thoughts?

I'm curious - what is it loading exactly? Isn't it just linked to your music folder over the network or directly off the USB?

I set up the same music folder that is on a drive on the SageTV Server as the Client is set, and that the HD100 was using (and an MVP as well)... it finds about half the music, but each time I go into the music area in stand alone mode and get the popup again.

Do you have more that 32,767 songs? If so, you may need to do a bug report. The songs may be stored in an integer array instead of a long integer array. Integer arrays have that limit.

There is a limit on the size of the database because the device has a limited amount of physical memory. Generally this is around the 15,000 file mark that we've seen this happen (but that will vary based on the actual metadata associated with the files; we've seen it get to 25,000 with certain setups).

You can still access any files that aren't indexed by going into the Filesystem interface.

And one workaround for the limit is to use a SageTV server; which is exactly what you're already doing.

I would like you to file a bug report so we can get a dump of your database from the HD Theater and anlayze it to see how we may be able to compress it more. We're also going to be making modifications in the future which can allow expansion of the database size by disabling other features which might not be in use. The initial limit we set was very conservative because we didn't want memory issues introducing other problems at this point.

How about a way to use a USB memorystick to add more memory for situations like this - would that possible work as a solution? Obviously would require adjusted firmware though.

You could possibly add swap space there; but that may cause a really bad slowdown. It'd be an interesting test to say the least though.

Same Here

I also have this problem. I would prefer to work in Standalone mode, but with over 30,00 songs (i am a sound engineer with wide music tastes), and 2500 videos it looks like I am stuck in extender mode. If anybody needs logs, please let me know how to do it and I can send them on.

I have an uncle who asked me the other day how to get a system like mine in place, but as a stand alone unit. He is not PC savvy and having the HD200 with a USB drive would give him a perfect solution.

This limitation, however, might keep him from going the Sage HD200 route. Hopefully a work around can be found via firmware.

HD200 Stored Memory Error

I hooked up my HD200 and after a few hours of use received the below error message:

"The database has grown larger than what can be stored in memory. Additional media files cannot be added to the library until some existing files or import paths are removed."

Has anyone come across this issue? Not exactly sure about the reference to "stored in memory" as I thought everything was pushed from the Sage Server.

This message only occurs in standalone mode....if you're running as an extender then this won't happen.

Thanks Jeff. Since I run the HD200 95% of the time as an extender, it sounds like it should be fine. I haven't noticed any missing files or error messages in extender mode so far.

I just set mine up and got the same error message and problem...I too have a large music collection. This really disappoints me. I'm planning on setting up a SageTV server and using my HD200 in extender mode eventually, but for now Standalond mode is all I can use. Hmm.

Doing a search brought up this old thread. Was there ever a resolution to this memory limit? It just poped up on my system also.

"The database has grown larger than what can be stored in memory. Additional media files cannot be added to the library until some existing files or import paths are removed."

Thanks
George M

I have the problem too, but with pictures

I use my sage device in standalone mode attached to media in my Windows Home Server. I recently tried to add my entire set of digital pictures to my library and encountered this error. It got up to about 20,000 pictures in the library before the error occurred. It is frustrating. I didn't expect it to do that. I can browse folders, but can't seem to get it to show a slide show of a folder that's not in the library.

Has anyone had any luck (or tried) moving the database off the internal memory? I'm hooking mine up to a tb drive, and would like to have the database file on that drive along with the content (Stand Alone mode)
