Tribune Co files for Chapter 11

Is it possible that this will have ramifications for SageTVs EPG? (Tribune Co owns Zap2it which is where Sage gets its EPG data).

Whoa. I never thought of the Zap2It connection. No, that is not a good thing. Having worked for a company that went through reorganization once it is an ugly process and could affect any unit of the company.

Still, I'd guess the Zap2It service should be okay for the moment - probably will get sold off at some point and that is where the risk really is since you never know what another company would do with it.

Lots and lots of people have a stake in getting guide data from TMS, like Tivo, Sage, BeyondTV, Microsoft, I doubt that business unit is going anywhere.

Tribune Files for Bankruptcy: EPG guide provider in trouble

Edit to add: Very Very late to the party I see. Sorry about that Sage Community

"BREAKING NEWS: Tribune Files for Bankruptcy

As expected, the Tribune Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, seeking shelter from a debt load that's rumored to be as high as $12 billion. The move came after the company hired bankruptcy law firm Sidley Austin and brought in restructuring bank Lazard to help sort out its finances. Since going private last year, Tribune has been shedding assets in an effort to stay solvent -- most recently putting the company-held Chicago Cubs baseball team up for sale and auctioning off Long Island newspaper Newsday".

WHY is this of any interest to us you may ask?

TMS actually provides EPG data to a great many boxes, including TIVO and Sagetv............(I Think)

Just about everybody gets their standard data package from Tribune. Zap2it is also Tribune.
