Playback slow, stuttering picture

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I have moved all my DVD movies I rip to disk to another system. Its connected to my network 100T, When I watch a movie through my extender (first generation) I can play them only if I do the following. Pull up the movie start to play when it stutters stop it, wait 4 minutes and restart it. Then it normally runs fine. I feel this is a performance issue but what can I tweak in the server or client to help this? My server has nothing but sage running on it with Vista, the other server with the movies is running in raid 1+0. Sometimes it gets so bad I stop the movie in frustration.

Any help?

Thanks
