STP-HD200 and custom resolutions
I just got my HD200 !
Up and running in no time, but I'm having trouble with custom resolutions. Are the settings supposed to be the same as the HD100? I've been using a custom resolution with my HD100 for some time now that works great on my plasma with native resolution of 1365x768. On the HD100 the picture quality I get is much better using this custom resolution than when I use the default 1280x720 setting. The picture is sharper and darker. I put extender_resolution_extra_modes=1365x768@60|standard\=VESA_1366x768x60 in the properties file as discussed here. But when I select this resolution using the Video Out button, my TV no longer recognizes the resolution and can't sync. Any tips? Thanks, Marc |

Hello Marc,
Did you ever get this sorted? I have a couple of HD200's on the way, one of which will be used with a 1366x768 plasma, so I am interested. Thanks. Jesse

Unfortunately not. I submitted a bug report and have sent logs to SageTV support. They are looking at it. In the meantime, I've switched from HDMI to component. Frankly I always assumed HDMI would give me a better picture quality, but I actually think I like component better now. I don't have to use a custom resolution either. Without a custom resolution using HDMI my screen was always washed out. But with component, I get 1080p and a nice sharp picture. I'm probably just going to leave it like this but I will work with SageTV support to verify the problem with my custom resolution.

I haven't had much chance to play with the hd200, but my hd200 also seems much darker than the hd100 that I have. I'm connected via hdmi. If I had to guess, I'd say it looks like the gamma setting.
I noticed it primarily when the screen saver kicked in (since I haven't had a chance to watch any movies). It's quite apparent with pictures Will update after I get some more time to experiment. |
