Remember in the event you do get firewire going (which I kinda doubt!) thats all it can do. As opposed to the USBUIRT which can control almost anything that has an IR interface. Not just your cable boxes... Mine controls as you know controls a DVD changer, SS amplifier, and the TVs themselves to switch inputs and power them off after time of inactivity. It's just a very versitle device that is supported by more then just SageTV.

Firewire channel changing works fine with WHS and isn't that hard to setup.
The only things that caused me any trouble was having to use the "-F" switch in the registry key because my stb wasn't "supported," and having to remember to stop the SageTV service before editing the .properties file. It might take an hour give or take some minutes, including doing the research on how to do it. |
