update sage recordings listing?

When I look at the folder that holds all my recordings, and I look at the list under "Sage Recordings" I see two very different lists! Many things that have been recorded are not on the Sage list, but are very definately in the folder. Is there any 'easy' way to get Sage to parse the folder and update it's list of recorded material?

Also.. when I try to watch anything that Sage has recorded with any media player other than Sage, I get a terrible flashing/stuttering playback.. is there any way around that? Or is my setup somehow bad?

Thanks!!!

Well... I don't know how to get SageTV to re-read the list, but there seems to be 3 types of files in the v1.4 recordings folder, at least these are the ones I noticed when I used v1.4: 1) Actual recorded shows listed in SageTV, 2) Live TV snippets that haven't been deleted yet, but are not listed in Sage TV, and 3) Shows that I deleted inside Sage TV but were not deleted from the disk.

What happens when you exit SageTV? If you have this line in Sage.properties:

seeker/delete_partials_on_exit=true

then those live TV bits and perhaps even the remaining 'deleted' shows will be deleted. I had definite problems getting v1.4 to actually delete files that I wanted it to delete, so I found myself deleting them manually from time to time.

Do you have files in you folder that do not fall into those 3 categories?

The two folders I refer to are the:
1) E:\Video folder
2) Sage Recordings listing within the GUI

I noticed that when I look at the sage recordings list it shows about 2/3 of the shows that are actually in the e:\video folder.. for example

Sage Recordings shows I have 2 episodes of ST: Enterprise recoreded, but when I look in the e:\video folder, those 2 episodes and 6 others are in there.. there are many other things in there two that don't show in the Sage Recordings listing within the Sage Gui.. These shows were not asked to be deleted, and are not partials.. just orphans..

Does that clarify it any?

A little more clarification... are those other 6 Enterprise files actually 6 other episodes, or are they the same episodes with additional numbers on the end of the file name: 1, 2, 3, etc.?

They are all different episodes.. I tried to view them.. which is where I discovered the second part of my original question, and could make out that they were all different shows.. the problem may have occured when I switched from 1.4 to 2.0 beta..

It's not a show stopper, but I'd like to import them back into Sage so I can view them, or figure out a way to view them with another client (again, my second question had to do with sage files not playing on Windows Media Player or any other of my media players.. other than sage..)

Thanks!

I don't think that you can get them back into Sage Recordings, but if you move them into a separate directory, you could add that directory as a Library Import and view them from there. They won't have any guide data, though.

I'd add a #4 to Opus list too:

4) TV files that are 'deleted' in SageTV v1.4 immediately after playback when prompted, but don't always get deleted from disk. (Even then they only SOME times get deleted from the Sage Recordings section, when confirmed).

I believe that question only asks if SageTV is _allowed_ to delete the show when it needs to, instead of asking if it should delete it right now. That confused me for a while too.
