XP & Vista dual boot

Saw the Newegg has Vista Premium for $100.00, thought I might give it a try.

In fact my new Dell Vostro 1500 was originally configured with Vista but I had it changed to XP.

Any way I would like to install Vista on the laptop in a dual boot configuration along with XP. I understand Windows has a boot manager??

Are there any other boot managers anyone can recommend. Suggestions??

Regards

I've heard good things about the Acronis product, Disk Director Suite.
I have been using System Commander from Avanquest for about six years.
You can use Windows itself, but it's not easy to make the other partitions invisible to the OS. By using a third party product, you can make each OS installation appear to be completely isolated; it knows nothing about any other partitions.

We had one "family" computer that my wife and two sons shared. By putting System Commander on it and installing three instances of XP, each person had their own completely separate environment. There was no visibility between the disk partitions. So when my oldest son screwed up his partition with a virus, it did not affect my wife's ability to log on and do her thing.
The PC I'm using right now is set up to boot into three environments, one "normal" environment, one for all of my music softeware, and a third with nothing on it but XP and the VPN software I use to connect to my company's network.

Thanks OLIAS.........

Little too pricey for me, I'll try the boot manager in Vista first.

For your requirements, using the built in tools should work fine.
Here's a primer on multibooting XP and Vista:

Have fun!
