SageTV is a great addition to your home theater system. If you use CQC there is even a plugin to control it. I like the capability to distribute live TV and media recordings around the house using just Cat5e cable (i.e. home network). You can easily view the media on your PC via PlaceShifter as well. High Def versions of the media extenders are also available.
What is CQC? And the extender IS a HD version. DUH! + it is NOT available.

Our product (CQC, the Charmed Quark Controller) is a software-based, control/automation and, media management system.
CQC

Sage TV plugin
CQC Plugin

And the MVP is also a media extender and is NOT HD.

The article rated "SageTV plus Extenders" #1, not the SageTV HD Extender per se. As gplasky pointed out, there are non HD extenders, which is why the article stated "High Def versions of the media extenders are also available".

Haha I missed that one myself, I'll do some editing.

EDIT: Can't edit topic titles and it's not worth the time to involve Andy.
