HD Extender broken - flashing power light
I have two HD extenders, one of which seems to have died on me a couple of days ago after 3 months of working fine from new.
There is nothing on screen, the red power light flashes once every 2 seconds or so and nothing else responds. I have turned the poser off for 24 hours, still the same. Is it dead? Any ideas of what I can do to confirm? Anyone else seen this? Thanks for any help. |

Before trying what the FAQ says, check the extender's properties file in the 'clients' subdirectory below the SageTV install dir on the server. See if its <mac address>.properties file is corrupt. You could try renaming the file while the extender is turned off, then power on the extender.

Just tried that thanks....No result, power light still just flashes, nothing on screen, audio statics in time with the light flashing...

So, I tried renaming the properties file - that had no effect (the date/time on the .properties and .autobackup files had not been updated since the fault appeared a couple of days ago).
I also tried the reset procedure, that had no effect. I am pretty confident that the device is not getting as far as talking to the server. I tried disconnecting the ethernet cable, with no change in behaviour. It looks like a hardware fault to me - do you know what the flashing poer light means? Is it a diagnostic code? |

I'm having the same problem....was the fix easy or did you have to send the unit back?

Sounds like a fair few of these are dying around the same time, I have stated my issues in another thread.
I will not be purchasing another HD Extender, I will stick with the limitations of the MVP from Hauppauge for now. The cost of the extender is more than I would pay for a HD DVR from my sat provider so I just cant justify the expense. I am going to tear into mine to see if I can figure out what is wrong. Sage has sent me the reset procedure, but it did not work

Well, I'm going to send mine back. Kinda sucks to be without for a few weeks or however long it takes.
I'm really considering getting the popcorn unit. Supposed to be pretty good... |
