Custom HD100 AR modes with SageMC16x9

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I might go insane soon. I've been messing with the .properties file to try some of these new aspect ratios. For me, when i watch my 4:3 shows using the "Fill" mode on my extender, I get a small black vertical strip on the right side of my screen. I want to shift the image to the right to correct for this. I've followed the instructions to add some custom ARs, but I cant get the HD Extender to take the changes and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Here is what Ive done:

1. Stop SageTV service (exit SageTV) on my server
2. Opened the \client\macAddress.properties file
3. added "advanced_aspect_ratio_extra_modes=Letterbox|source=2048,2048,4096,3072,FrontEdgeToCenter, FrontEdgeToCenter,Relative,Relative,Relative,Relative;Panoramic|blackstrip\=0,0| cutstrip\=0,0|nonlinearmode\=2,2"
4. Restarted SageTV
5. Turned on my HD Extender and connect to SageTV server
6. When I watch a show and I bring up the menu for AR modes, I still only see the Default ones (Source, Fill, Zoom A, Zoom B)

What am I missing here?

You don't really need to stop the service to edit the properties file for an extender, but you do need to turn the extender off.

Double check that you are actually editing the correct properties file -- if Windows is configured to hide extensions (its default), then ###.properties.autobackup may look like ###.properties.

You can also edit the custom AR modes live in the default STV during playback -- just use the Options command & continue on to the AR modes.

Also, changing the aspect ratio from the HD Extender menu does absolutely nothing. When I edit the offset and zoom numbers, the picture doesnt change at all. I have tried disabling the "output native resolution" setting in case that was causing it. I am using the HDMI output.

Are you still not using the default STV? I said this was in that STV.

The offset & zoom values you mention shouldn't be available on the HD100 when using the default STV, if you mean the settings in Detailed Setup.

I am not using the default STV -- Do I have to use the default STV to get new AR to work? If I make the changes to the .properties file, the changes do not show up in the STV I use (SageMC16x9).

In my current STV, when I bring up the menu (hitting the center button between the up/down, left/right keys on the HD-100 remote) during playback that allows me to select Fill, Source, ZoomA, ZoomB, there is also an option to change the AR by adjusting the zoom and offset. Editing those numbers has no affect on the image.

I know very little about SageMC, but there is a whole SageMC subforum where you could ask questions about that interface.

Edit: I've moved your posts for you.

Configuration of the new custom AR settings on the HD100 is not available from within the SageMC STV. You will have to switch to the default STV and create your new custom AR modes. When you switch back to SageMC they will be available.

Since this is pretty much a one-time setup, there hasn't been much motivation to port the code over to SageMC.

Aloha,
Mike

This may not be Sage at all, I had a similar issue. I don't know what your video sources are but, I'm using DTV and my HR20's were off center. In there deep setup sub menus you can change the picture location on the screen like a PC monitor can. Not sure if this can help or not.
