Please help
Okay, I'm dying here. I'm having problems making my SageTV work perfectly...there's a lot of little tweaking that needs to happen that I'm struggling with. Here's my setup:
Motorola DCT6200 Hauppauge HD PVR via USB Windows Vista (clean install on 1TB HD) SageTV 6.4 Intel G45/G43 onboard graphics 4GB RAM Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz (Shaw Cable in Vancouver) Can anyone help me with any of the following: 1) My Hauppaugge remote doesn't work. When I installed Sage it asked me the number of buttons...and I diligently counted them...43. The options were a 45 button or 37 (or something like that). I uninstalled Sage (as per instructions) and reinstalled it with the other option. Still doesn't work. 2) Watching Live TV is choppy sometimes. Also, when I'm watching and or recording, my mouse (wireless MCE integrated keyboard and mouse) is extremely choppy. So annoying when I'm tinkering. Also, sometimes when I start my PC, the display is offset to the left slightly and I cant' figure out why. Other times when I watch Live TV, the top and bottom of the TV screen is cutoff. Again, not sure why. 3) I tried making the IR blaster work with my set top box and that didn't work. So I installed the firewire cables instead hoping that would allow me to change the channels. Vista didn't recognize my box, I can't find a driver for it, and so therefore I can't make that work either. I'm significantly less technical than most of those on the board...so when replying with help, keep it simple . Thanks in advance! |

1) Have you tried reading the manual? The manual has pictures of the 34 and 45 button remotes in Appendix E.
2) Since you are using VISTA, you should use the snipping tool to post pictures of the display issues. You need to use the performance monitor in Vista to see what is causing the choppy issues. It is probably related to Disk IO. Do you a disk partition just for Sage? If so, is it formatted for 64K cluster size?

Okay, true, I didn't look at the manual....but when I did, I clearly had chosen the right remote, but it didn't work.
I have created a partition with 64k cluster sizes. We'll see if that helps. The most frustrating thing is that I can't change channels because the Firewire setup doesn't seem to work with my Motorola DCT6200. Can anyone provide some assistance on setting it up? |

For the Hauppauge remote, you have to have the Hauppauge IR software running. See this FAQ and/or the links in my sig lines for more info.
