Emergency!!

Sage has suddenly stopped working on me! Private Practice is on in 20 minutes, and the wife is going to kill me. I have an HDHR, and it is getting the feeds no problem. Unfortuantely, no signal is getting to Sage! Nothing is recording, and I'm getting no signal on the screen. Not good. Everything was working fine last night. The only change to my system was that I added a second place shifter client. Could that have messed things up? Any ideas?

Check your firewall settings, IE7 may have hijacked them.

Could be that the local cable co. has changed the QAM channels on you. It happened to me a few weeks ago. Just resetup the HDHR and see what happens.

You can always do a start, programs, accessories, system restore to restore to an earlier time (shouldn't affect any sage recordings, just programs and other registry and security settings).

I think the HDHR is fine, because when I open up the setup pane and check a channel in VLC, it works perfectly. Nonetheless I'll rescan the channels and give that a whirl.

Can the firewall effect what's happening internally in the server? The signal is getting to the HDHR just fine, it just isn't getting to Sage. I don't get it. I rolled back the IE settings, but I'm not sure where to look in my firewall settings to identify a problem.

I'm loath to do this, because this is a dev machine, and it will roll back a lot of work from yesterday. Plus, it doesn't identify the problem, and at this point its personal.

Thanks,

Alright, so the plot thickens slightly. When going through the HDHR/Sage setup, in the Sage portion, I can view the channels! They work perfectly, strong signal, etc. However, when I finish the setup and go to view the channels on the server or extender through live tv, its no signal. Back to the channel setup and I can view the channels. Back to live tv, no signal.

Problem fixed. Not sure why, but by switching the setting from Overlay to VM9 everything is happy again. What exactly does this setting do? Why would it have caused the below problem?
