Help getting started to switch from 4 cableTV boxes to 4 Dish Nework R5000 boxes

I currently have an odd setup where I have 4 comcast boxes in one room.... all coming off of one coax outlet with a standard 4 way digital cableTV splitter.

My understanding is that satellite TV requires completely separate coax cable runs connected directly to the satellite dish; which is just not going to happen at my house. I need a way to split one coax cable run from the satelite dish to the outlet and split it 4 ways to four different boxes.

I think you need a multiswitch. I have 2 r5000s and ended up just pulling a separate line. Here's a link where I asked the same question about the dpp44 switch. Don;t do anything based on my half-assed info, because I'm still not quite clear, but hopefully this points you in the right direction.

caveat: sage still can't see my r5000 #2, but i have put little to no effort yet

You'll need 3 (or 4, depending on the dish) RG6 (quad shield) runs from the dish to some "convenient location. To those you'll want to attach a DP44 multiswitch, and to that you'll attach one cable between each of the 4 boxes and the DP44.

If you'll be pointing the dish yourself, especially if it's a 4LNB dish, you'll really want to look into a good satellite finder, check the sat forums for recommendations.
