Sage closes down after playing ripped DVD?
So, here's an interesting one....
I play a ripped DVD from the Video Library using Sonic decoders. I 'exit' out of the ripped DVD (since there's no 'stop' on the toolbar and I'm not using the PVR remote, I just click home) and click on Sage Recordings. I click on any show to watch and.... Sage disappears (program closes). Gone. Finito. Buh-bye. I can repeat this behavior as many times as I have patience for. What the heck? Anyone had this happen before? I can restart Sage and watch whatever I clicked on, but why the heck would clicking on a recorded show send a 'close program' command? I'm not even going to get into the crazy 'aspect ratio' control yet. And just when I thought I had nailed all aspects of my HTPC... |

Which audio decoder are you using? I've had this trouble with the Sonic Cinemaster DS Advanced Audio Decoder. Also, which Audio Renderer are you using? I was using M-Audio Revolution when it was happening to me.
BTW, I don't think it sends a 'close program' command, I think it just kills Sage. I've got another one for ya, what version of Sage and Sonic are you running? |

Thanks Stanger. Yep, I'm using the Sonic MP3/DVD pack audio decoder (which I believe comes up as Cinemaster Advanced DS). I'm running that with the Direct Sound NVIDIA nForce Audio Renderer (onboard non-Soundstorm audio on my NF7).
I uninstalled Sonic and reinstalled NVDVD 2.55. Problem gone...although now Sage crashes when I get too aggressive on the FFWD key. This used to do this all the time with GotTV and Sage, though, so I think my system doesn't like NVDVD. Stanger, any thoughts on a workaround? I like the stability of Sonic (compared to NVDVD), but would really like to use Sage for DVD and TV. I do have Zoomplayer, so I can play ripped DVDs in that if there's no fix in Sage. Thanks! Jason |

Actually the Advanced Audio Decoder is only available with Cineplayer Surround, or as an upgrade to Cineplayer. Also the Advanced Audio Decoder needs to be added manually in the properties file.
Couple things you could try: Sonic Video with nVDVD audio Sonic A/V with different renderers - Waveout: NVIDIA nForce Audio Renderer, NVIDIA nForce Audio Renderer, etc. Perhaps I'll need to revisit this on my system. |

Are you using analog out or S/PDIF.

S/PDIF optical out off the motherboard....
Haven't tried different renderers with Sonic, but with NVDVD I got weird audio delays if I didn't use Direct Sound. I'll give that a try, though! |
