EVR Working but CPU usage still high?
Ok, so I got EVR working with the fix that has been posted, but for some reason, something still doesn't seem right. I have EVR enabled with the Cyberlink PDVD8 Decoder running and Sage's CPU usage is still around 25% .. not only that, but the playback doesn't seem to be completely smooth either and I do notice some slight tearing every so often. I tried EVR+SageTV Decoder and that exhibits the same problems.
Anyone else seeing the same thing? the same decoder with Overlay gives me under 5% CPU utilization and completely smooth playback, however, in this mode I get atikmdag.sys BSOD's every so often, so it's not feasible for me to use. Mike |

EDIT: This is on my Core 2 Duo Vista Client. I'm getting smooth playback.

Hi,
Same here. 30%~40% cpu on Q6600 test machine when viewing HD-PVR recordings using the ArcSoft decoder. Playback is smooth on this machine, but this will not fly on my two client machines. It sure looks to me like we are not getting DXVA. Jesse

hi,
I have 3.0 dual core with nvidia 260 gtx. Image seems very good, much better than overlay or VMR9. I don't get does motion blur, or much less. I still get trearing however. What do I do wrong. It must be only some minor adjsutment. I am using power dvd 7. Would Power dvd 8 make a difference? any other thing I could do? |

On my AMD 3200+/ATI 3650 client, I get 100% CPU usage when watching live tv. Not only is this not using DXVA, it's way more CPU intensive than normal non-accelerated video. Switching from window to full screen locks up Sage every time too.
At least on my system running XP with .net 3.5. |

Same here even when you using sageTV video decoder. around 20% CPU usage using EVR with mpeg2/h.264

My ndvidia purevideo decoder says it's running in software mode. When I switch from EVR to VMR 9 it changes back to hardware mode.

You can try getting a codec that will allow acceleration of evr like powerdvd or windvd, and disable ffdshow from attaching to all compatible filters as well and see if it makes a difference. |
