SageTV Service won't start

I installed the new beta, upgrading from 6.4.8, and the service will not start. I even rebooted to see if it needed a fresh system, with no better results. I even retyped the login, and tried local system as the user. Is anybody else seeing this?

I only tested the client. With EVR not working and some of the other features for this release being reported not working (HD-PVR transcoding for one) I'm sitting back and waiting a bit. Check the event log in Windows to see what the error is.

Event log shows the service stopped. Very helpful of windows.....
I saw a bunch of Java related errors in the SageTV directory in the form of "hs_err_pidxxx.log" files, and they seem pretty detailed, so I will have to submit them.

Same here. The client fails to start and the service stops and generates java error logs. I also tried to disable the service mode but the SageTV fails again.

Same problem here, I get incorrect login error. This is what I did to fix it. First I back up my SageTV directory. Then uninstalled 6.5.1 from Add/Remove Programs. Then I reinstalled SageTV 6.5.1, and the service works again.

By the way, this is the first time I see SageTV ask to reboot after installation. Is there a need for this?

Service is working fine for me and I did NOT reboot.

I did not type the .\ for the user, but it does appear in the control panel.

Same problem here. Uninstalled old version & then installed beta - crashes when i tried to watch live tv. Same thing after a reboot. Any workaround to this yet?

Same problem here. I install 6.5.1, start sage and go through the setup fine. When I get to setting up my video sources (i have a nova dvb-t dual card), i can add one of the tuner fine, but when I go to add the second tuner, sage crashes and the service restarts and I get a bunch of java error logs in my sage directory.

should I file a bug report for this?

error log is attached:

yes I would do.

that java error looks the same as the one I get when I try to watch something from the guide.

I've just filled in a bug report and reverted back to 6.4.8.
