Unhappy Sage-->PVR250 Graph Error

I’m having difficulty getting Sage 1.4.10 to work with a WinTV PVR-250. Getting the following error:

"There was a problem utilizing the capture card. Be sure it is installed correctly and no other applications are using it. Failed running the graph for encoding. ErrCode = 0x8007001f"

It will work if I uninstall all PVR-250 drivers, reinstall them and then install Sage. As soon as I turn off the machine and reboot, I get the error again. It appears that there is a battle going on for the capture card’s attention. My uneducated guesses are as follows:

• AIW 9600’s multimedia drivers are creating problems for the PVR-250’s drivers
• Powerstrip is causing a problem
• Some other program I’m running is creating a conflict

I just did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro, and still have the same problems. My configuration, including all programs currently installed follows. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Antec Overture, ASUS A78NX-E Deluxe, XP 2700+, 2 x 256Mb Dual Channel Crucial 2700 RAM, AIW 9600 Pro with Component Video Adapter, WinTV PVR-250 Tuner, 240Mb SATA RAID 0, Lite-On 4x +/- DVD-R/W, Logitech Wireless MX Duo, AC-3 Out to Proceed - Vienna Acoustics - M&K - Sony HDTV System Software: XP Pro, ATI Radeon 4.20 Driver, Powerstrip 2.39 build 438, Sage TV 1.4.10, Norton Systemworks 2003, Ad-Watch 6.81

Have you tried using WinTV2000 to access the card after a reboot?
You might want to use Google and search for 0x8007001f

I use to run an ATI AIW 8500DV with a PVR250 and didn't have that problem. I think other people use an AIW card as their video card without an issue.

I also believe various people are using Powerstrip when outputting to a TV to get the desired resolution so that really shouldn't be the issue.

I'm running Ad-watch with no issues.

What is the Sony HDTV software? I would sart looking there. Look to see if the Sony software has something running in your processes. Something might be grabbing your overlay on startup.

You might also want to try switching Sage from using the overlay to vmr just to see if you can get past this error.

Thanks for the suggestions. My Sage.properties file shows many lines related to the ATI card, a couple examples:

Quote:
mmc/encoders/-81006103/video_capture_device_name=ATI Rage Theater Video Capture
mmc/encoders/-81006103/video_capture_device_num=0
So it does appear that Sage may be trying to access the AIW tuner. Any suggestions on this issue?

Also:

* Tried launching WinTV2000 after reboot, and get "WinTV initialization error.hTV=10"
* Google shows a Windows error # 0x8007001f, indicating:
Quote:
This behavior occurs with video capture cards that work with video port extensions (VPE) and support video port pins instead of preview pins.
* Sony HDTV should have a comma after it, followed by System Software: XP Pro....etc. (sorry about the typo!)
* I've tried both overlay and VMR, to no avail

There is a line in your sage.properties file:

mmc/ignore_encoders=

Trying putting the ATI Rage Theater Video Capture in that line. (Make sure Sage is shut down and not just sleeping.
Now get rid of your configured source in Sage and try running the wizard again and see if that helps. Maybe there is something in the new Cat 4.2 drivers related to the ATI E-home card that lets Sage see it as possibly being a hardware encoding card. I can't recall ever having my ATI card stuff show up in the properties file.

You might want to view the 250/350 Faq on the the Hauppauge site. "WinTV Initialization Error.hTV=10" when trying to open the WinTV program.
