HVR-2250 and Two Cable Boxes

I'm wondering how to use the HVR-2250 with two digital cable boxes. My cable company encrypts most of the channels so I need to use two set-top boxes. As of 12/31/08 they will no longer broadcast an analog signal. Can I connect two set-top boxes to the HVR-2250? I can see where one will connect to the coax connection to provide video and audio. How would the second box connect? There is an s-video connection on the HVR-2250 to capture video but how is the audio captured?

There's an s-video input on the card as well as a stereo plug to get your audio in for tuner 1. There should have been a second adapter (included with the card) that plugs into the card and provides an additional set of s-video/audio inputs.

I am no expert on getting the 2250 to work on SageTV. I am still going through that process myself, but I can tell you that the jack on the very bottom of the metal plate is a mini jack that is used for input of audio along with the video in the S-video jack. You may need to get an RCA-to-mini jack adapter if your audio source has RCA jacks. They are available pretty cheap on Ebay.

I received the HVR-2250 and have it and the A/V Cable set installed in my computer.

I went into Sage to configure the input devices. I was able to configure the first analog device and get audio and video. I selected 'S-video' when configuring the first analog device in Sage. I'm using the s-video connection and the mini jack on the HVR-2250 for the first analog connection.

I then connected the second cable box to the RCA inputs of the A/V cable set included with the HVR-2250. I selected 'Composite' when configuring the second analog device in Sage. I thought this would give me a signal from the second cable box that is connected to the RCA jacks. But not so, the signal is coming from the first cable box.

Shouldn't I be getting a signal from the second cable box if I select 'Composite' and the second cable box is connected to the RCA inputs of the A/V cable set?

I had to select composite_2 to get my A/V cable to work. I had plugged it into the slot away from the plate. They need better docs for this card!

Yes, Composite_2 also worked for me after installing the files from this thread.

I had the same problem with my HP PVR500 when I went to DishNetwork and wanted it to record off of my two 311's (previously I was using it to record Analog Cable directly). I had to try several combinations of which "port" I put the AV cable into and which composite I had to choose....

The extender cable set plugs into either white connector on the HVR-2250. I believe if you plug it into the white connector closest to the tuners you will select either Svideo or Composite (if using RCA cable) when configuring within SageTV.

Mine is plugged into the white connector farthest from the tuner. I'm using an RCA cable to plug into the extender cable set so I had to select Composite_2 when configuring within SageTV. If you are using an S-video cable you would select Svideo_2 when configuring within SageTV.
