Any Disadvantage to Service Mode?

I have everything in SageTV set up and tweaked the way I want. I have not had a keyboard, mouse or monitor hooked up to my Sage server since the HD PVR 1.1 driver install. I have been having SageTV start up in Full Screen mode on the server even though I don't use the Sage interface. I only use my SageTV Clients.

Is there any disadvantage to running SageTV in service mode on my Sage server?

Not really. You just need to make sure your using UNC paths and run the service as a user (not LocalSystem) if you want to use network drives.

Nope. Can't think of any disadvantages. UNC paths and a local user with a password is all you need as stanger said above for network drives. I've run it that way ever since it was available in Sage way back when.

The only disadvantage I know of is that you can't run the Netflix plugin hack for extenders (or the same hack for using Pandora either). Have to be running Sage in non-service mode for it to work.
