Got mine yesterday and hooked it up last night. It started giving playback exceptions this morning while my woman was watching live TV and she couldn't watch anything all day live or recorded. I unplugged/replugged it when I got home from work and it is now OK. I did notice that it was pretty warm so I'll probably move it somewhere cooler and keep an eye on it.

I was impressed by the weight of the box and the unit itself given it's size. Nice to have something made out of metal and packed with a bunch of cables.

nice work devnull, very useful.

Also, as one of the many/main complainers with regard to problems with the 100 with regard to playback of full bit rate blu-ray rips I can tell you that the 200 seems to have solved those problems. My best example is Cloverfield which is a VC-1 movie that when I first ripped it and played back on the 100 had a horrible unviewable, much less watchable experience. Through various iterations of the firmware for the 100 it got better to the point where now it just stutters badly, but picture and audio look/sound fine.

Well with the 200 all is golden, playback looks great, no stutters and you can even jump around in the film and playback will steady down again and be fine almost immediately.

thanks

I have no problems playing *some* 1080p videos now. I have one encoded with 8 reference frames that does not work. I have another with 3 that does. I assume 4 would work too as that is a limit with DXVA, but I haven't tried it yet.

Does anyone know where to find some clips that are known to fail playback tests on a HD100? I'd like to spend some time investigating how much the HD200 has improved things.

Just found out that mine got delivered today. This thing is tiny, about the size of the MediaMVP!

Same here. Got it today and was also struck by home much smaller it was than I pictured. Was real quick and easy to replace that noisy PC client in the family room.

I set up mine tonight. Wow, was that easy! And finally no noisy computer in the living room and a perfect picture without messing around with directshow filters and decoders and...

Yes, there were two or three. I think one had a buy it now button. And one I looked at was up around $200 in bidding.

It is cold and snowing in my part of Canada today but my HD-200 just arrived in the mail which warmed me right up! Looking forward to playing with it tonight.

FYI...for those in Canada I had to pay $41.72 COD to cover GST, PST and handling.

viperdiablo - pvrpenguin is in Our Nation's Cpital - check out the Location in the top right of the post.

pvrpenguin - Thanks for updating us. Mine clear customs at 4:43pm yesterday and will hopefully be delivered today or tomorrow. I thought I was going to have more time to upgrade to 6.5.3 but I guess I should try to upgrade tonight.

No love on external DVD Drive Detection with standard encrypted Movies.

At least with the Sony External DVD Drive I tested.

Will test a USB HUB tonight.
