Backup unwatched recordings
I searched for the following but could not find a usable solution:
I want to backup unwatched recordings to another hard drive. Right now I only have one 750GB SATAII hard drive. In the future, I want to have a 1TB RAID1 for DVDs, photos, OS image, etc, the 750GB for TV recordings and a 500GB for the OS and unwatched TV shows. Is there a way for SageTV to automatically duplicate an unwatched show on another hard drive? Then once the show is watched, delete the second copy leaving the original untouched. I don't what to set up a RAID on the 750 for TV and OS because it is painfully slow navigating the UI while recording 3 HD streams. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Max |

You probably ought to ask this question over in the "Customizations" forum. I don't think there's anything in the default Sage software to do something like this.

Thanks. I didn't think SageTV would have something like this. I just needed to make sure, before I start working on a workaround. I'll re-post this on Customizations.

You might want to look into FlexRaid.
http://www.openegg.org/FlexRAID.curi If you want to get less complicated you can just schedule recordings to be copied automatically by something like Microsoft SyncToy 2.0 Beta

Thank you for the suggestions mikejaner. I'll give FlexRAID a try.

You can use sagemc and automatic compression settings. You can set up a directory specifically for compression conversions as long as they are not in-place conversions then you can go back to those shows in the recordings listings and delete the original
