Creative DVCR problems

Hi,

I'm having some issues with the Sage TV software version 1.2.8(trial) and my Creative DVCR capture card. I'm trying to get this software working properly with my card so I can make the Sage TV purchase before the pricing deal expires.

The issues I'm experiencing are the following:
1) Audio/video sync issues on some channels while others remain perfectly in sync (while changing channels fairly frequently). However even those channels in sync appear to go out of sync eventually.
2) Jerky/choppy video and accompanying choppy sound on some channels while others are fine (again changing channels frequently).

Pertinent details of my configuration are as follows:
1) ATI All in Wonder 8500 with Catalyst 3.2 drivers
2) Creative DVCR card with original drivers
3) PowerDVD XP 4.0 (for its MPEG decoder)
4) Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 sound card
5) Sage TV 1.2.8
6) I tried the elecard decoder but did not notice any improvement.
7) I tried the fast_mux_switch=false setting in the properties file but that did not improve things.

Firstly I want to make sure I've set everything up correctly. What is the best set of configuration settings for the Creative card?

Further to that, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to improve my situation?

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Regards
Lester

Ok things seem to be a bit better now. I uninstalled then reinstalled PowerDVD and then made sure that hardware acceleration was enabled (not sure if that was on before).

Audio/video sync is much better now. However I'll leave the system running for a while to be sure.

The jerky video problem, is much reduced. Still the very occasional blip but that doesn't bother me.

However I would still like to know if there are any special settings that I need to be aware of for the Creative card.

Thanks
Lester

Update

Ok here's an update after monitoring the situation for a bit. It seems that the audio gets slowly out of sync. If I change channels then it's back in sync and slowly gets out of sync again.

Does the fast_mux_switch setting have any bearing on this?

Cheers
Lester

fast_mux_switch doesn't have any effect on the Creative card because Sage is hardcoded to not support fast_mux_switch on the Creative card since it causes a/v sync problems.

If you have a reproducible problem with audio/video sync, please send an email to support@freytechnologies.com and I'll send you a version of the multiplexor that'll give me details about why the sync loss is occuring.

Thanks,

Also, check to make sure the MpegMux.ax file in your Frey Technologies\Common folder is from 4/21. If not, you've got an older version and need to uninstall-(make sure the file's gone) then reinstall.
