Video speeds, slows, controls and arrows vanish

SageTV 4 was working fine. Then, the arrows in Program Guide vanished. So did the controls at the bottom when I left click on video screen.Sometimes the video is like fast forwarding. Sometimes it's in slo-mo. Never had these problems before. Running Vista Home Premium. I heard SageTV 5 was a free upgrade so tried that. No difference.

Any ideas?
