Media Portal Blue3 UI
Doing my regular cruise through the important stuff this evening, I found the screen shots of Media Portal's Blue 3 UI on Brent's site. Before I go any further, let me say that I've tried MP in the past, and just could not handle it. Way too open ended and too much intelligence required for a dope like me to get it running. However, that new UI looks SLICK. The mascot is awesome! Something simple/stupid like that could go a long way towards bumping SageTV's WAF through the roof! I was looking through the screen shots and Mrs. Lobster saw the little blue guy (on my screen, gutterbrain!) and loved it. She wanted something like that put into Sage immediately.
I know, it adds nothing to the functionality, however, it detracts nothing from the functionality. It's a cute little image that the end user only sees once or twice per sitting, but it's memorable and...well...happy! Having your TV smiling and waving at you can't be a bad thing.

GL,
I wasn't really wowed by that skin. It looks nice and the cartoonish character is catchy but not sure if it is for me. Still I think the graphics could be done in SageTV easily enough. I'm not sure if SageTV as it is could do the animation in the menus the same way though (could be wrong). I am not a fan of how the animations worked regardless. I did a screencast and a screenshot in this post if anyone is interested in what we're discussing here. |

its essentially the same skin they have had forever, except the added mascot. They need to focus on getting a 1.0 final instead of all these RCs.

Yep, Mp needs to get version 1.0 out and start focusing on MP2. The animations and menu interaction on the movies veiw is most impressive though.

Personally, I like the AEON skin much better than blue3. Again, the cartoonish mascot is cute, but doesn't feel right for my house.
