Sudden problem with R5000 and Dish HD locals
Hi,
Hopefully someone else has experienced this issue and can help me. I have 2 R5000s in 2 Dish 211s and I use Sage 5.0 to control them. Everything has been rock solid for like 3 years. Suddenly none of my local HD recordings are being captured. About 2 years ago I just had to remap the HD locals to use the standard local 3 digit channel code instead of the 4 digit 9XXX code that used to work. The 211 knew to pick the HD channel instead, and everything went ahead properly. But now the 3 digit codes don't seem to work. It ignores the scheduled recording and nothing happens. What's more frustrating is that I can't find the HD locals in the lineup at all anymore, so the only option I have is to record in SD. Anyone else found this recently? Thanks in advance. |

Can you tune the local channels using the STB and the original remote (ie not going through Sage?). You need to try an figure out if it is a situation where Dish moved the channels (the STB, if being updated, should have the channels listed in the guide properly) or if it is a Sage problem.
If Dish moved the channels, then you need to modify the channel list in Sage to reflect the changes.

Yes, if I enter '005' with the remote it takes me to Fox in HD, as it has in the past, so the receivers seem to be ok. But the sage seems to have forgotten that 005 is Fox, so it ignores it and won't record from it. I did some tests where I deleted the existing remaps and set them up again, remapping the SD channel numbers to 002, 004, 005 and 007, which should make them tune to the HD channels properly, as it used to. It seems to be working somewhat, although one of the test recordings was inexplicably in SD not HD. But this was last night at about 3 am, so my ability to troubleshoot effectively was fading.
In short, it seems Sage forgot what channels the remaps were linked to. By eliminating the corrupted remaps and recreating them, I think I may have solved it. I'll look at it again tonight and see where it stands. Cheers, Scott |

Ok, problem solved.
My assumption that Dish had changed something was completely wrong. It appears that somehow the Sage software just forgot where the remapped channels were supposed to look for program data. Reassigning them solved it, as far as some testing would indicate. Thanks for the help. Glad it didn't turn into a giant hassle to fix it. Cheers, Scott |
