HD-PVR H.264 and ATi AVIVO
I thought I'd try to set the record straight here. I reinstalled XP SP3, installed the latest Catayst drivers (8.9) and I'm running a Radeon x1600 (AGP). The verdict: Hardware acceleration doesn't work in PowerDVD 8, Windows Media player, or the Arcsoft software. My CPU (AMD64 3000+) is pegged at 100%. According to ATi, the X1000 series cards are supposed to do hardware acceleration oh H.264. So what gives? Should I be trying something else?

I am using an ATI HD 3870 and hardware acceleration doesnt work for me either, but only when I try to ff/rw. I am looking for a fix as well. A shame to have a nice graphics card and not be able to use it for um.. graphics.
