Sima XCard Remote control question

Hi,
well I got delivery of a Sigma X-Card yesterday and it comes with an infra red remote control unit which uses the COM port. My question is, is there any way to use the COM port receiver with any other remote control? i.e. is there a way a Hauppauge Silver remote could use this remote receiver?
My thought is that I could hook up a client and use the remote from hauppauge (or maybe an All-In-One remote) to control the client via the com port receiver?

A second question is, how do I set the X-Card to receive from it's own remote? Once all the software is installed, should it just work automatically when I reboot the machine?
TIA
Patrick

Unfortunately, you would need a learning remote to be able to use the receiver with a different remote.

As far as the receiver, I don't know if support is built in directly, however, I did find IRAssistant (http://www.irassistant.com/dotcom/v_current/) that works with the remote that I had from my Hollywood Plus remote control which is somewhat similiar to the XCard remote. The best part about it is the fact that it's 100% free as long as you're not using it for a business.
