incorrect first run recordings

I've noticed that I keep getting recording of shows that are reruns even though I have a favorite set to only record the non-reruns. When I look in the guide the show is incorrectly marked as a first run (which would explain why the rerun is getting recorded.) More times than not the first air date for the show is correct (some time in the past) but it is still marked as a first run. Is there a way to get the recorder to only record the show if the first run date is actually the date the show is being recorded?

First Runs are defined to be any show aired within the first week or so of its initial airing cycle. Many stations air shows repeatedly during such a time frame. It is a rerun when it is aired during subsequent airing cycles.

If you already watched the show or it is already recorded, it shouldn't record again -- there is a FAQ talking about repeat airings & whether they will be recorded.

I'm seeing things marked as 1st run that are from years ago. If it will help I can start tracking the programs that are marked wrong. Maybe there is some pattern to it. The first air date always seems to be right though.
