Arrow Manual Recording - Filename customization

Hi!
I live in South America (Ecuador), and haven't been able /¿capable? to find an xml stream data for program information, although my tvcable provider does displays it on channel 11.

This forces me to schedule manual recordings for every program I like. My problem is that it is quite annoying (I've used sage for over a year) to navigate /watch this files as I get names like this:
752389692_5_0819_1244-0.mpg
2_21_0909_2100-0.mpg
31_18_0910_1130-0.mpg
423323317_1_0908_1000-0.mpg

Could this be reconfigured? Or personalized? I would like to get something like:
FRIENDS_0819.mpg
or
FRIENDS_WARNER_CARD1_0819.mpg

Thanks in advance.

This would be of great interest to me to, I emailed SageTV support and they have no plans of implementing this any time soon.

So are there any programmers out there who would be willing to pick up the challenge of developing a plugin that would allow the creation of timed recordings and give them meaningful names before the recordings occur?

Thanks

Instead of monkeying with the file-naming logic for manual recordings, wouldn't it possible to write a batch file or script to generate the necessary XML EPG data so you can set these recordings up as normal favorites instead of manuals? You obviously know what timeslots and channels you want to record, so just create dummy EPG entries for those timeslots with the appropriate series names and use the existing XMLTV importer to import them.

Does that make sense, or am I missing something?

"write a batch file or script to generate the necessary XML EPG data" <== This is the part where you lost me.
Although technically possible, it's considerably harder than having SageTv use the data I already enter on the manual recording dialog to reflect on the corresponding filename generation.

Regardless of this, I have looked around for this option (again, not my favorite one), and there is too much and too scrambled information to extract the steps I need for this.

I am not afraid to get to it, but I have to humble admit that I haven't been able to sort it out.

I'm not an XMLTV expert so I can't give you step-by-step instructions for making it work. What I'm saying is that in your shoes, that's the avenue I'd pursue, because (a) it doesn't require any new features in the SageTV core, all the pieces are available already as plugins or user-editable text files; and (b) it seems to me it would result in a better user experience by letting you use the Favorites and SageTV Recordings lists the way they're meant to be used. With those features working properly, you might find you don't care anymore what the actual filenames are.

The XMLTV file format is documented here, if that helps. This is just a text file, so in principle all you need to do is type in your data in the correct format and run the importer.

Also note that this page seems to show grabber coverage for Ecuador (at least it's green on the map), but obviously you're in a better position than me to decide if that's accurate or not.

Sigh...

Not exactly the kind of expected answer for a program I paid, but I'll get into it and post back the results.

Thank's for the urls, as for the xmltv data for Ecuador, believe me, I've searched every 3 or 4 months the web for some data on it, however I haven't got any luck. Maybe I'm the only one in this country that requires it..

In the meantime if someone comes up with an easier solution, please let me know...

Have you looked into the WebServer add-on? I believe it will let you re-name recordings. It would still be a manual process and you would have to re-name them after they finished recording...
