Running both beyond TV and Sage TV

I am currently running beyond TV and want to switch to sage TV. The only problem is I only have my 1 DVR box and would like to try sage TV to make sure I like it. Has anyone ever installed sage TV on the same hardware as Beyond TV with out effecting the other application?

I know I will only be able to run one at a time, but if sage TV doesn't work out for me I just want to start beyond TV back up without re-installing.

When I made the switch in November 2007, I left BTV on the machine, but changed the set up so that BTV no longer start on a reboot.

You will never look back. There is a program by Nielm that will convert your BTV recorded shows to SageTV format so you can bring them over.

I still run BeyondTV betas occasionally - although my primary HTPC software is SageTV. You can run both on the same machine - just be sure you totally shut down one before opening up the other one so that the two don't "fight" for the tuners on your PC.

Here's a guide on importing shows from BTV into SageTV

Actually you can have both on at the same time if you're not recording...
