Thumbnails in SageTV Recordings

It appears that the thumbnails shown in the upper right corner of the SageTV Recordings screen are generated from the first second or so of the TV recording file. In many cases this is too early and it catches the channel before it has changed on my STB (I use firewire to change channels). Is there a way to specify a time offset - like 30 seconds or so before generating a thumbnail?

This property is used for that:
video_thumbnail_extraction_time_offset_sec=15

For most files: if it needs to get a thumbnail before enough of the show has been recorded, it will grab something near the beginning; if enough of the show has been recorded, the thumbnail is taken from that offset time into the scheduled show time.

speaking of thumbnails.... is there a setting that (un)limits the number that Sage will store?

So just to be totally clear Andy. If I have a recording set to start 1 min before show start, it will take the "snap shot" when?

Thanks
Rasmus

It will try to grab a frame X seconds into the show's airing time, but that isn't guaranteed.

Thanks for the answer Andy.

I wonder if there is any way to turn the feature off, because in most cases the frame adds no info about the content. Usually its just a frame from a commercial.
