Using remote control with Sage minimized?
Hi all,
Is it possible to minimize Sage or send it to the system tray and still use the remote control? I use my desktop computer for my Sage box, so I need to do email or other stuff once in a while when others are watching TV. Well, right now I have to keep bringing Sage to the foreground so that others can use the remote. Needless to say, this isn't ideal for me on the computer or those watching TV. So, any hope? Is there a hidden setting? Thanks. |

If you mean doing that with the Hauppauge remote, I don't believe that is possible since it sends the associated keystokes to the app with the focus. If there is a way around that, I too would love to hear a correction of what I just said.
What you are looking to do would require sending the key codes directly to the SageTV process. Perhaps that is what Girder does? - Andy |

Yes, girder does this. If anybody could help, I tried it the other night, but couldn't get it to work. I know some others do have it working though, and this is because they have alot more know how with girder than I.

Don't know about the Hauppauge remote (I'd guess no, Andy's description sounds right).
However with Girder it's really easy to tell girder to send commands to anything. It can send commands to the foreground app or can target specific apps, regardless of if they are in the foreground or not. Here's how I have my targeting set up in girder, note I don't think it's necessary to Target Invisible Tasks. |

I use Girder also with my remote. Routinely put it to sleep by remote and bring it up by remote directly to Live Guide from sleep.

Sorry. Yes I was talking about the Hauppage silver remote.
I have a PVR 350 and use its TV out. Does Girder work with this remote? Where do you get Girder? Thanks. |

If you go to the plugins page there's one for Haupauge remotes, but I've never tried it. Also the latest version (3.3+) is shareware, 3.2.9 was the last free version, you might want to google Girder 3.2.9. |
