[Solved] XP Service Pack 3 Problem?

I installed service pack 3 on one of my client boxes this morning. After rebooting from installation the SageTV client can not find the server anymore. I can still connect via Samba to the server and I disabled the wirewall just in case, but still it could not see it.

Looking in the sagetv_0 log on the server I now see many Broken Pipe errors. my server is running on Ubuntu Server 8.0.4.1 which is working fine from other boxes.

Not sure what actual root cause is right now but everyone might want to be careful rolling out SP3 to their SageTV boxes.

I'd be interested if anyone else has encountered a problem with SP3 and SageTV.

I just got a new server online a couple of weeks ago, and I'm using SP3. The old server had SP2. Haven't noticed anything unusual.

But I'm just one data point.

No problem here with SP3! I have both my server and client machines (XP Professional) upgraded to SP3, and everything is smooth.

Maybe you can check your Windows Firewall setting!

Doh!

Turns out the problem was nothing to do with SP3 aside from the fact it caused a reboot. I had redone some network/DNS setup a few days ago. The reboot cleared the DNS cache preventing the Sage client from connecting to the server.
