Problem Displaying Large Photos?
Hey Folks,
I'm running 6.3.5 and recently upgraded...my digital camera from a 4M pixel to 8M pixel. The resulting photos are about twice the size (not surpisingly) and average out around ~3MB at the highest quality settings. I've now noticed that new photos will intermittantly not display. For example, I will browse a folder of (new camera) photos and photos 1, 2, 3 "may" display fine, but during the same browsing session, if I were to advance to photo 4 or 5, the screen is blank/black. If I go back to 2, or 3, they "might" display?!? There seems to be no consistent pattern related to photo size, or order (but I am trying to remain open to possibilities). New camera thumbnails are fine, and viewing photos from my previous camera works flawlessly. Any thoughts? Thanks! |

I recently bought a 10 MP camera, and I took all of my shots at the highest resolution, that generated 5+MB JPEGs.
I'll have to verify, but they seem to play nice on my rig. But I'm using an extender for the client with the latest version/firmware.

I've got some 10+ MB pictures and they display fine. I originally had a lot of problems but then discovered that thy were caused by not enough Java Heap space. When Sage decompresses the pictures to display them it takes a huge amount of Java Heap memory.

Thanks to both of you for the replies. Clearly should not be an issue with ~3MB photos then. I'll check my heap space.

Great call on the heap space. My reg value was at zero (not an uncommon issue apparently) and system status showed 189/200. I bumped it up to 200 (hex)...reboot...and after browsing through some photos the system status showed 170/350/533. Clearly, I was running out of heap space.
