Question about HD Recording

Hey guys, this may be a dumb question, but I'm new, so please bare with me. I've done a lot of research and just want confirmation.

I built an HTPC a few months ago and have really enjoyed using it for regular cable, watching and recording shows. I have two Hauppauge HVR 1600's. They have been great.

I am at the point now where I want to record HD shows, but not just ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX. I want ESPNHD, Discovery HD, etc. It is my understanding that the HD PVR can do this, as long as I have the set top box with digital cable.

If that is the case, then is the Hauppauge HD PVR my only option as far as a tuner? If not, what are any others and are they better or is Hauppauge's the best? Also, is it impossible for me to do that with my current setup?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help!

HD-PVR is your only choice.

depending on which STB your cable company provides, it might be possible to use an R5000HD modification. Check their website for info: http://www.nextcomwireless.com/R5000/home.htm
