Ripped DVD's and videos no longer play with 6.4
Just updated to the latest public 6.4, and I notice when I go to play a ripped dvd, or any video file for that matter, that SageMC just goes back to its main menu, after briefly displaying a black screen.
1. Press play 2. Goes to black screen with the SageTV logo for 1 second. 3. Straight back to SageMC main menu Normal SageTV plays the movies & videos back fine. Only SageMC has the problem. I havent changed any decoders, nothing at all. Just a straight 6.4 upgrade. I'm sure this is an easy config, or something (?) fix. Thanks for your help, RV Last edited by rv73; 08-26-2008 at 07:03 PM. Reason: typo |

Did you have SageTV installed as a service, and are these items accessed over an SMB share? When this happens to me it's usually because I forgot to reset the credentials for the "login as" item for the SageTV service.

thanks for the reply.
Everything is local on one machine and a number of hard drives, so all my paths are F:\Movies, R:\Videos, etc I did recently make SageTV run as a service come to think of it. Would this bugger something up by any chance ? |

If you run SageTV as a service you need to use UNC paths.

Everything works again if I disable the sage service. Ideally I want the service to run so when I shut down the UI things keep recording.
As for UNC paths, everything is local. Sage is on my PC connected via its video card to my TV. So there is no network. When I choose the 'Import directories', I can browse my local drives , and choose the path of my videos. That's it. And videos with normal Sage (non -SageMC) works fine. Just not SageMC with the Sage service running. Weird ! |

Having the same exact issue with SageMC just goes back to its main menu, after briefly displaying a black screen.
I also am not using UNC as its all local in one main server. |

Well then how do we reset the credentials. I'll do a search and see if I can come up with the answer and post link.

Are you using .ISOs and an external player?
