Client remote control?

Hi,
silly question here but need to know, with a client installed on a pc at the tv and no tuner card, how could I control the client with a remote control? Also if I had a tuner card installed, could the remote from it be used to control the client. Confused as to how that end of things works.
Currently looking at having a client box beside the tv and the server doing the recording etc on the other side of the room where all my other computers are and so can be used for other computer chores also.
The remote control is my problem at present, wondering how to control the client.
TIA
Patrick

I'm using a StreamZap remote via Girder to control SageTV, you could also get a USB-UIRT. Either one of these should work with SageClient with or without a tuner. FWIW, a StreamZap will require the use of girder, the USB-UIRT is natively supported by Sage.

Do you know if it has been discussed before whether an Ati-all-in-wonder 9000Pro will work with a pvr 250?
They are going for $149 at compusa and wondering if I should go with that or just get another PVR 250.
Any advice?

You won't be able to use the tv/tuner part of the Radeon with Sage. Sage requires hardware mpeg2 endocder on the card. You could use the Radeon as your video card though. Not an efficient use of cash.

Yes, have just seen that, been looking at Radeon 7000 and upward cards,, is there a difference between the hardware decoding of a DX 9 card vs a DX 8 card?

According to CinemVidGuy (in the thread I linked to) there are differences between DX 9 cards in the same family (Geforce FX at least). Over at the AVS forum a number of people have reported PQ improvements going from R8500ish to R9600/9800 cards.
