Unhappy Dish Vip211 and SageTV setup questions - Confused!

I am going to be setting up a Dish Vip211 on my WHS to work with SageTV. My question after reading around is if I have the right solution in mind...

USB-UIRT IR Blaster
Hauppauge HD PVR

So ignorance is probably better, but I've been reading about the R5000 and the Nextcom software. What advantage would that give me over the above solution? Should I be looking that route instead?

Thanks.

The r5000 has better video quality and AC3 audio support. YMMV.

Also, the R5000 handles channel changes internally, through the USB cable, rather than by using an external IR emitter (like the USB-UIRT). I've found this to be more reliable.

On the negative side, the R5000 software occasionally (once per month) crashes on my server and I have to restart it manually.

Keep in mind that they also sell a DIY version of the R5000 for the VIP211 for about $350. So the price difference between a HD-PVR ($249) with the USB-UIRT ($50) is only about $50. So if you feel comfortable making the modifications to the VIP211, you can save some money over buying a r5000 modified box or having to paying shipping to send your box in. It looks to be pretty plug and play, but I honestly have not tried it myself.

Given the trouble that I have had getting the HD-PVR's blaster to work, I'm beginning to wish I spend the extra money for the r5000.
