That's understandable but it would be nice to do stream SD from an original HD file. What if I am away from home and want to watch a show recorded in H.264 format? Currently I am out of luck unless I also record the show using an additional tuner. Once it does become possible to stream H.264 files I don't want to have to record a second copy of every HD program just so that I can stream it.

Well that can probably be done now and slipshod claims to have done it.

Try you connectino with manual settings 256kpbs and 352*240 (CIF) resolution.

But now it's not HD anymore so you gotta be upfront about that.

So wait, does this mean that you can't use the SageTV Client with HD-PVR recordings??? If I can't place shift to vermont, that's no big deal, but if I can't watch it on the client PC in the family room, or my PC in my office or the laptop wherever, that will be a big deal...

You can use SageClient with HD-PVR recordings, however you have to install the Arcsoft software on any and all client PCs that will be watching HD-PVR recorded TV. I have not received a clear answer from anyone on whether that is technically legal.

It's the software, (Total Media Extreme by Arcsoft) that comes with theHD-PVR. Install this to control some settings to the HD-PVR and to decode the recordings.
