Audio out of sync after ripping DVD with AutoGK

I ripped a DVD (which I legally own) with AnyDVD to a directory, and am able to play the movie fine on my SageTV system.

I attempted to compress the movie down to a 1CD size using AutoGK 2.45. I selected the INF file that referenced the full movie, set my output AVI file, and starting encoding. An hour later, the process was done, but I find that in the resulting movie, the audio and video are not in sync. The audio lags the video by a couple of seconds, making it impossible to watch.

AutoGK gave me the following error message, I'm not sure if this is important, nor how to deal with it.
"A field order transition was detected. You may need to use the Fix D2V tool to repair this stream. Refer to the DGIndex Users Manual for details."

I hope to compress most of my DVD collection to optimize for disk space, but cannot do so until I can figure out what went wrong.

My system is very capable (quad-core 2.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo), and I experienced no system problems during the encoding.

As I'm very new to DVD ripping, I'd appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Thanks.

Now using Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 5

Hello,

I have abandoned Auto GK in favor of Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 5.

I'm finding that this application gives much better performance, and I never see the audio/video out of sync in the final product.
